Week 3 Capstone Project

A story I have from this week has to do with the different guitar's I've been playing. I picked up my dad's guitar to play at one point this week and the strings were thick and hard to play. I decided to try out my old guitar and the strings were thin and easy to play but didn't sound very good. I thought it was interesting with the notions of frequencies and how that creates dissonance in the notes we play. It could be interesting to look into what makes strings sound the way that they do, aside from the tension that makes them play a certain note.

On the front of my final video, I've decided on a song and I have been practicing the way I want to play it. There will be two parts layered over each other, which is something I've wanted to do for a while. I always thought it was slightly annoying to only get to play one part at a time and now I will be able to here them combined. I've attached 3 video clips of me playing some of the songs I've been practicing/learning recently, since I wasn't able to put those in the last blog posts.

Grow As We Go - Ben Platt

Funeral - Phoebe Bridgers

Cherry Wine - Hozier

  1. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us. The sound is good, too. I like your creativity and how you figured this solution out. I'm looking forward to the final product.
